Hello ,
Yes we have added a number of pics to the kits site this year.
There are a number of really nice pics of the kit2 on that page - also the kit1 - let me know if you have seen the web site
Thanks

Sorry to be critical, but you don't really have enough photos of your Kit 2. You've got a couple shots under the hood, but none of what the amplifier looks like from the outside. Your brochures don't have any pictures at all of the Kit 2. Single ended 6550, 17 watts sounds really nice, but there's basically no information available. I just don't feel a good case is being made as to why someone would purchase this amp over any of the competing products. Both the Kit 1 and Kit 4 have much more information available when doing an online search or even looking at your site. So what's with the Kit 2? It actually sounds like the one kit in the group that would work with more speaker choices than the others. Are the sonics not up to par?
Yes - you are right there are not really enough pics of the kit2.
Since I took over the kit business in January we have had only a few requests for the kit2 - lots of requests for kit1s however. I bought two complete Kit2's from AudioNote and my plan (when I have time) has been to put one together. It basically looks exactly like the kit1 except the 300B tubes are replaced with 6550's.I personally have not heard one but am very curious because the Harmon Kardon tube amp that I grew up listening to was 6550 based and it moved my soul!
I put out an enquiry on the forum recently to get some feedback from any kit2 owners and I got one response from a customer who loved his kit2
So we definately need to build and test one out on this end and I would be very interested in selling one of the kit2's to a customer so that we can get some good feedback. I would like to have a kit2 built and tested on this end in the next 2 months and then we could post some pics on the website.
I have noticed that the Kit2 manual has been very well written and the design has just two PCB's instead of the 3. It came out after the kit1 so I think AudioNote made some improvements to this kit over the kit1.
Thanks for your feedback and I will get the Kit2 the attention it deserves over the next few months
It WILL be nice to have more information available about the Kit 2 and I'm happy to see that you're working on it. I'm considering a tube amp kit for the future and the Kit 2 looks really intriguing. I did both a Google and Audio Asylum search yesterday morning and found a bunch of good information on the Kit 1, Kit 4 and the DAC, but hardly anything on the Kit 2. I'll look forward reading what you have to say about your in-house build of the Kit 2 and maybe someday I'll construct one myself.
The feedback about the web site and products is appreciated as we continue to add more information about the kits. I'm thinking I will build a kit2 with stainless chassis and chrome transformer covers - Will give it that classis look - and you are right it will drive less efficient speaker loads - You have inspired me to get working on the kit2 and maybe you will be a happy customer at some point in the future!
Regards
Brian

So the Kit 2 is also available with a stainless chassis and chrome transformer covers. That will be one great looking amplifier.I've searched the archives on this page and I'm still confused about the amplifiers and their volume controls. Are the Kit 1 and Kit 4 amplifiers, or integrated amplifiers? If a person already has a nice preamp, can the volume control be bypassed? If so, is it just the volume control that gets bypassed, or is their other circuitry that becomes redundant and needs bypassing if you use a preamp with the various kit amps? There's a post by Thorsten that says something about bypassing the 6SN7 stage altogether when using the units as an amplifier? Did I misunderstand his meaning?
Hello,
Yes the kit1 and kit4 could be considered integrated amplifiers as they will support a line in and have a volume control. We can make suggestions on bupassing the pot if you would like to make it a pure power amplifier. There are alot of suggestions out there regarding the stages of the kit1 and what to do and what not to do with regards to bypassing - a number of people have opposing views on the subject - but your best best if you would like to convert the kit1 into a power amplifier is to send us an email at audionotekits and we will provide a mod you can use- I will post this on the web site at some point
thanks

I am glad to hear, that the KIT2 is getting more attention. I am planning very seriously building one, and I do not consider it as a cheap solution of the KIT1.
I need more power than 7 watts, as I am ont willing to replace my speakers.I am waiting to hear the news!
Thanks,
Having an ASL KT88 SE amplifier which has 15 watt pentode or 5 watt triode output, with some mods and the right input and output tubes can sound very musical/dynamic and the low level listening quality is excellent and has enough guts to drive 86db benign speaker loads in average size rooms, so I can certainly recommend any good pentode driven KT88 SE amp.The amp is mostly used in the pentode mode which is definitly more involving and dynamic in my system as opposed to the triode connection.
