The gist.............
Track Palin was arrested for Vandalism (School buses....I guess he favors home schooling?).
He was convicted and given a choice by the Judge.....Jail.....or the Army.
Good-bye Alaska.....hello Iraq.
IF true.....how does Palin/Republicans spin THAT??
Follow Ups:
journalists will confirm.
The church lady strikes again.
have been giving that option to troubled young men for decades. One of my dearest friends grew up in the Lincoln Heights section of Los Angeles.
That has been a tough neighborhood for years. He was constantly in trouble. The judge offered him prison or the Marine Corps. He chose the marines and was seriously wounded in Korea. Almost killed him but sure got his mind right. He was one of the kindest men I ever knew and friend that always had your back. I miss him.

If it is common in Alaska, that is one thing. If it is not, then it is favoritism.

'if it happens in a conservative, Christian family, it's normal - even a good thing; if it happens to a liberal, well, then blast them'. Remember Dan Quayle going after Murphy Brown for her no-husband baby? Now, with Bristol, it's all about how it shows Sarah is a real-world parent', etc....
but the other aspect is how it's played. If her son enlisted in the Army out of patriotism, as it's being portrayed, then she isn't telling a half-truth just to play to the crowd. If it's the other reason, then she's pretty much just another liar. I don't know which it is at this point. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
I see Pete Wilson, former Gov of Calif, rationalizing the DUI arrest of Palin's husband: 'there but for the grace of God go 75% of the US male population.' Given the statistics on adultry, do you think Pete said the same thing about the Clinton bj?
Really? I don't think it has anything to to with Conservative or Liberal.
Certainly not in my world.
All circumstances are different and family dynamics are all unique. If you're suggesting that I only take this stance because she's a conservative, you're off base.
I have teenage daughters. I know that no matter how I parent, there's a risk of them doing something that will change their lives forever in an "unplanned" way.
I'd have to re-visit the Murphy Brown/Dan Quayle thing to remember exactly what happened there, but perhaps there's a distinction between dealing with circumstances in a loving way, and holding them up as a standard as the preferable way.
Issues like teen pregnancy etc can come up in all families. My comment came after listening to interview after interview from the floor of the convention and other political news with people who were most likely very judgemental about the same issues when they were talking about the dems. When it's another conservative, like the new pit bull, then all of the sudden their tone does a 180. There's a lot of hypocracy in politics, on both sides.
for the "clarification." ;-)
Unfortunately, yeah, too much partisan bull sh*& and hypocracy on both sides.
In my time I have seen:
Good kids with good parents.
Bad kids with bad parents.
Bad kids with good parents.
Good kids with bad parents.
It's not easy and I refuse to take glee in the challenges of other parents and I don't think it is a reason to vote against her. There are so many reasons to oppose her that have to do with actions, issues and policy.
