Not quite...
There's output power and impedance, emissions, susceptibility, PSRR...
That sort of thing. Most electronic gear has far more inclusive and detailed specifications and requirements than does home audio. I think it's just an historical artifact but that adds to the "personalities" of gear that push come to shove should be on the bland side.
That failure, coupled with the incompletely understood human aural perception and preferences, is why we ("audiophiles") find the subject interesting and are having this conversation.
As I have mentioned before the tighter that anything is coupled to our senses the more that these sorts of discussions occur. Birders (aka birdwatchers) are in essentially the same boat but with binoculars and spotting scopes rather than amplifiers and speakers. In both arenas science and engineering are sloooooowy prevailing. One thing that makes it so slow is simply that defining how good any performance aspect has to be to become a "don't-care" across the user base is just this side of impossible to sort out.
That being said, optics are generally better now than they were twenty years ago, are stereos? Probably. But you still gotta listen and look and find the compromises that are right for you. There just is no other way for now and probably forever.
End of run-on response!
