Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

But there is more you are overlooking...........

...Amongst the best speakers and cables in the world, you are forgetting to mention also the best Coincidence amplifiers which were also used in the “Shootout”.

This quote is from the Coincidence site (link below):

“211PP Dragon Mono Amplifiers - This is the finest high power amplifier I've ever heard. In short, my associates and I hear a combination of sonic strengths we've never heard before. - Arthur Salvatore- High End Audio”

http://www.coincidentspeaker.com/mpsip_amps.html

So it looks like Arthur Salvatore does not support just the speakers and cables but also the super-amps. The whole Coincidence line happens to be the new world reference, especially when mated with the Canadian Oracle 2500MkII CD player. Strange!

Now, Israel Blume called all the manufacturers and distributors of the “reviewed” players buying them at industry accommodation price. He obviously returned all because he did not like them, even tried to sell some on Audiogon for profit (per Charles Hansen who saw his Ayre player for sale on Audiogon). Where the APL Denon came from is unknown, but it should be some guy in Canada. There are 2-3 Denons in Canada, one of which is currently for sale on Audiogon so I assume that is the player used for the “shootout”. This is 2005 version of the unit which is extremely outdated. But I could care less about APL player that has been long discontinued. And BTW, I am not from Russia but from Bulgaria – a huge difference, in my view. But this is irrelevant.

Of course, the “shootout” was done for an extended period of time (2-3 months) and all players were not there together. Level matching or phase check was not performed. In other words, it was a very professionally done “shootout”, from the manufacturer of the best cables, speakers and amplifiers in the World. Also, Arthur Salvatore was there for at least one of the shootout sessions. So saying he didn’t participate in the “shootout” is not true.

Apparently, Israel Blume was trying to find a synergistic digital source for his “World Best” system so it could shine at the upcoming CES show (and other audio shows). So he did a pretty good homework, collected all these players and started evaluating them. After determining the fact that the Oracle 2500MkII is the best for his system (which is perfectly fine), he tried selling the Ayre on Audiogon and returned all other players to the distributors demanding his money back. This is rather brutal considering he is a manufacturer, a very “considerate” industry inmate!

I have no problem that the Oracle CD player was the most synergistic with the Coincidence system but, to me, it is even more brutal that Israel Blume is the anonymous “trusted associate” of Arthur Salvatore who wrote the “Shootout Report”, and Arthur posted it, unbelievable!!! Of course this has to be kept strictly anonymous so Arthur can keep trashing Stereophile magazine and innocently promote the world’s best Coincidence products on his “honest audio review site”.

So here, you be the judge.

Regards,
Alex
