Lots of good stuff here (Lyle, Emmylou, Willy, Lucinda, etc.) but right now I'm listening to Townes Van Zandt "Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas") and if you're a fan of East Texas singer/songwriters with three names, this is a must have. Performance-A+, Sonics-A-, Stage Patter-B.For those Van Zandt fans who haven't heard this set, he doesn't seem that drunk, and since it's a double album it's a great repertoire.

1. The Jim and Jesse Show Live in Japan. Best live bluegrass I have ever heard. Dead on harmonies and some great banjo/mandolin interplay. It's a double album, and it has more energy and soul tna any of thgeir studio stuff. Not to be confused w/the sequel "Tokyo Again," which is entertaining enough but not a masterpiece like its predecessor.
2. Hank Thompson Live at the Golden Nugget-The first ever live country LP. The golden throat of Hank Thompson and the hot pickin of Merle Travis. A nice mix of pure honky tonk and western swing.Ok- i can't help it, one more thing. The trio of Merle Haggard late 60's early 70's live albums-Okie from Muskogee, Fightin' Side of Me, and I Love the Dixie Blues. A great look at the old style C&W revue-hits. medlies, Jimmie Rodgers covers, and a few instrumemntals. The truest distillation of the Bakersfield sound. Haggard had a crack band, especially Telecaster nmaster Roy Nichols and steel man Norm Hamlet. They were turned loose on these three LPs like they ever were in the studio.

....I agree with Ewalaa about the Hot Rize record. Both of these are good stuff....
The Hot Rize show includes two cuts by Red Knuckles and the Trail Blazers which are mighty fine, mighty fine.
