Mark, a dummy like me needs some instructions on how to put one of these LED strobes together. I have many wall warts but not sure what LED and electrical connector/plug to use. Thanks for any help. Or a link?
Follow Ups:
i just picked up a beefier LED from radio shack that was rated for my mains voltage and then cut up an old computer power cord i had lying around and wired it directly to the plug. works really well. but i am no electronics guy so maybe i am risking life and limb with it?

I haven't done a cct diagram for this but it's pretty simple.AC trafo goes to diode bridge then string a zener diode, a current limit resistor and the LED in series between the + and - of the bridge.
If you had say 9V AC you'd get about 11V peak after the bridge. Drop about 6 of that across the zener, the LED needs roughly 2, a 300 ohm resistor limits the current to 10mA.
The idea of the zener is that the LED then only lights on the peaks so you get 120 flashes of roughly 4 mS each. The transition between on and off is even shorter so the "focus" of the strobe is improved. One way to check this is to wave the LED about , you'll see distinct streaks fo light separated by blanks. Try this with an ordinary lamp and it's just a blur.
