Some of these units have the DC plus on the center pin, some on the outer collar, although most use the center pin for the plus voltage.Make sure both are wired the same or you may fry something...

His description of the electrical output of the wallwarts indicates it is AC....not DC.You are correct about the polarity but this would only apply to DC and that is easily checked with a multimeter.
Since his wallwarts ouput AC....he should be perfectly fine in trying it out.
Cheers,
I bought a power supply for the boom-box I used to listen to music while on the road driving a cheap-assed truck for the company I worked for. It had 4 different plugs for ANY device that one needed to power. I plugged it in while driving one time...2 were easy to differentiate from the others, 2 looked identical. There was a mark stamped into the plastic of the boom-box where the power port was, and on each of the connections so you could rather easily pick the correct connector.NEVER connect any device without checking! Does PFHHHHHTTTTT! make the picture plain as day? I didn't like the box I bought to replace that one with...it sounded like semi-musical farts!
If I had more money, I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LP's!
