"I bought my first copy of this one in the $1.98 bin back in the 70's-it was a sealed Stereo NY USA "no ear" pressing. Pretty cool!"You're killing me, Allan. You're killing me.
I didn't know that Earl went on to MOTOWN, that makes sense. No wonder I love those recordings, too.
Follow Ups:
Never once got a credit on the back of any of those MOTOWN LPs.Got paid about 1/2 union scale.
But they were all JAZZ players. I've heard tales that they played regular gigs around Detroit all through the 60's playing straight-ahead soul jazz and that they were INCREDIBLE. But Gordy wouldn't record them in a jazz setting, so none of us will ever know . . .
Jeopardy question I believe.

The real "Funk Bros." were gone when they did this reunion--the driving forces were Earl Van Dyke and James Jamerson, Fender bassist of the gods. But it's a GREAT movie--really enjoyed it.
