Next time I'm out there looking for a Classic reissue, these guys will most likely get my business. $3 extra is a fair price to pay for the peace of mind and definite assurance that those $30 will be really worth it.Not to mention having it cleaned on a Loricraft.

the mere existence of this hand selects seems to confirm that the issues are of poor enough quality to make necessary this feature
buy pretty much any blue note or capitol or rca from the 50s and they are great... current pressings seem to have problems all too frequently as original post poster states... i mean i bought a my bloody valentine loveless issue and it had a giant scratch on it and the store i bought it from would not give me my money..but why should i have to go to the hassle?i fall on the side of the original poster.. there is some serious problem with current pressings..not sure why

buy pretty much any blue note or capitol or rca from the 50s and they are great...If you can find them in mint condition, have tons of money and can afford them, that is. Have you seen the ludicrous prices these, specially the BNs, command on eBay? For those of us devoid of a Dubai sheik's wealth, $30 sounds like a heck of a deal compared to $300 or even $2000+. I am a music lover first and collector second. As long as I can get great sound the way it was intended and with the least amount of noise possible, I could care less about whether the source is an original or a reissue.
I have gotten, however, a number of Mercury Living Presence originals over the years, who get lots of accolades here and in other vinyl circles. To make a long story short, I tend to think these are overrated too. I have heard more striking and realistic sound and dynamics from more recent releases in other labels (the MLP CDs, on the other hand, sound very impressive). But it may well also be a matter of taste.

point is there is no excuse for "new" vinyl to present problems if records pressed 40 years ago don't
