I have returned to tubes and vinyl in the last 2 years, and now I am really beginning to appreciate the differences between many of the old 70s pressings I have and the new re-issues/new issues.....many of the re-issues just don't seem to have the depth of sound that makes it worthwhile to play vinyl instead of CD.
There are many recordings I would like to have on really good vinyl, but I am getting a little lost in the options. For now, I specifically want the new Bruce Springsteen "Seegar Sessions" and also Van Morrisons "Moon Dance" in the best version I can get.
I would also like general recomendations for a source of reliably good vinyl.I would greatly appreciate any advice you folks might offer :)
thanks,
kellymon

Follow Ups:
Not sure where you're located, i.e. what part of the world but the two biggest sources of NEW audiophile vinyl in the US are Acoustic Sounds and Music Direct. They have websites. Obviously, there are many, many other sources out there as well.As far as specific releases and specific labels, best pressing, etc.: do a search in the VA archives by artist and title. There's usually good info here on that stuff...
...he wouldn't steer you wrong...Seriously, "Seeger Sessions" vinyl is quite nice.
Kind of an open-ended question otherwise. What genres of music do you listen to? What kind of budget do you have?
There's a host of variables, and even then, it's almost impossible to say one type otr label or whatever is "good." Online sources like TheMusic, Music Direct, Acoustic Sounds etc. are good sources for high-end audiophile reissues, but even spending $30 a pop doesn;'t guarantee a good time. (Though I listened to my Classic Records "Who's Next" for the first time abnout 1:30 this morning. Had a hard time getting to sleep afterward.)
I'd start hitting the used bins, flea markets, etc. and buying volume of the stuff you like. Get a good cleaning machine, buff 'em up, and hear what sounds good to you.

Wow, I was afraid I got buried by the Vinyl Rain Man thread...man, I gotta remember not to post a serious question too close to the weekend :)
Actually, you guys both gave me just the starting info I was looking for.
I ordered Springsteen "seeger sessions" Columbia and CSNY Deja Vu Classics today! I'm really looking forward to hearing the Classics version, remastered from tape etc....
Thanks!

Also have 'Graham Nash/David Crosby,' Crosby's 'If I Could Only Remember Whatever It Was I Was Talking about....Where's My Gun?...Don't Give Me A Hard Time, Graham' and Nash's 'Songs for Beginners.' Classic did a great job on all - I give the edge to the Crosby disc, but all are worthwhile. Next up is the CSN debut...
