Knowing that beefing up the motor isolation on the Scout is highly desireable, I've got a 14" x 19" x 3/8" piece of MDF with very rigid laminate ready to cut out the section for the motor. The TT section will rest on 4 KAB hemis, the heaviest rated ones (65lb). The piece the motor sits on will have the lightest KAB hemis (rated for 15lb) They are the same size domes so the piece will be level. This should isolate the motor nicely from the table. I'll post pics when it's done.Oh, a question to Scout owners. I know the SDS is desireable, but what about the 300 rpm motor upgrade. Seems reasonable at $150.

My question is simply: Why?Why do anything at all until you actually hear/listen to it? Why mess with the "Tweak of the Day" simply because of what someone else has said or posted? Set it up, plug it into your system, and burn it in for a couple hundred hours. And then (and only then), if you think you have handle on it's sound, then tweak-away.
Adding isolation and tweaks is all fine and good, but until you have a reasonable baseline of performance on what this truly awesome table can do you'll just be wasting your time by adding more variables into the dynamic.

and listen for a week or so. This also will give nephew No. 4 time do do the motor cutout on the MDF shelf. I'll then set up the isolation stand and listen again. Since I've already got the materials, I won't be out any expense to try it.

The biggest ROI you can get for the Scout is the SS clamp.I would spend the $150 on the SS clamp right off the bat....it is THAT good.

There is no comparison between the all delrin clamp and the SS clamp.Takes the Scout to a whole different level :-)

Kinda inconvienient sitting atop my entertainment center. The Scout will go where the SL-1200 is now. The SL-1200 is where the JVC is in the pic. Besides, I've already got the materials on hand. Thanks for the suggestion, tho.

Sorry, I don't mean to be insulting, but I doubt you'll get the most out of your new Scout sitting on top of that entertainment center.Target shelves come up on eBay from time to time for under $75.
I see you have only suspended subchasis tables. The Scout is a different design and likely prefers a different type of support. My SL-1200MK2, also a non-suspended subchasis design, sounds fine up there.

Indeed, I do have suspended 'tables. However, in many ways, non-suspended 'tables are even more sensitive to their platform because they're not decoupled or insulated in any way from them.Glad the top of the EC works for you. Just for giggles, you might try a different platform sometime - perhaps the floor, for example - just to see if you can hear a difference.
