Why would I make up a fictitious friend? The premise of your argument is silly. I did call Fred and left a message with the thread so he can review the postings. My system is adequate, and I enjoy it - so thats the only thing that counts. Did I push your buttons a little by stating my opinion of the VAs? Come on...you would have to know that there is better to be had. Your point should be "but not at the price I paid for it".
I use the GamuT mono blocks, Keith Herron's preamplifier, Burmester Transport and DAC, Piega P10 speakers and Valhalla cabling throughout.
I assess the weakness of my system to be the marriage between preamp and amp - both are good on their own...but the low impedance of the Gamut makes matching a pre tough.
Follow Ups:
Well, I'll be looking forward to hearing from your friend.Your statments that the Fet-Valve amp is for budding audiphiles and that it is mid-fi equipment is what is ridiculous. I have heard hundreds of amplifers from all price points, and your statement is not true in the least and makes me wonder how you could ever have heard this equipment.
If you fell for the Valhalla cabling, I think that price clouds your judgement instead of just using your ears.

Is that the best critisism that you can muster?Come on, Cut Throat!
Just because you cannot afford the Valhalla cables do not take it out on me.
As for the VA's being mid-fi, well, they are! Figure it out - If you owned Burmester digital and Valhallas, comparatively speaking the VA's ARE mid-fi...on the good side, I am considering them for my third system in the garage.
By the way, have you ever read a professional VA review without the reviewer mentioning the "considering the price" disclaimer? In other words, it is good for the money - not for competing at the audiophile level.
I can easily afford any piece of audio gear that I wish.I drive a Lexus, but only because it represents quality that is not matched by anything cheaper.
You obviously are impressed by Price. Audio gear has little to do with cost and you will find this out when you get further into this hobby.
Now that I know where you are coming from, I am done with you and this thread.

Your done all right, but only because your insipid arguements clearly paint you as a sore loser.I'll let you know how my garage sounds after I get my Van Alstine system.
