Since the ATM-2 has a built-in attenuator, I'm currently hooking my Sony SCD-1 directly into the back of the amp, and for video the Sony DVP-9000es into the front of the amp. Does it make sense to get a preamp? I hear both arguements - some people prefer having a pre-amp and like the sound of having the pre-amp, while others believe with an amp like the ATM-2, as long as I don't need to hook up anything else, it actually sounds better without another component in between. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback.
If the ATM2 is anything like my ATM3s, it will sound better with a preamp in between. You will get more width and depth, depending on the preamp you use, of course.
I'm owner of two ATM-2 and I know very well ATM-3.Sound is better
without pre-amp :more clarity and tansparent. Also better in front.
I forgot to say that I've got also the best pre-amp for an ATM-2,
the ATC-2 of Air-Tight with which I made the tests.Don't try other
pre-amp with ATM-2 sound would be less good.
