Hi All,
I've a Mullard based 4-30 (EF86, ECC83 and EL34x2) power amp (x2)in ultralinear push-pull configuration. I am thinking of buying a set of Calrad output transformers. Are these any good? Will they be bettre than the transformers I already use (from a kit I got from Maplin)?
Thanks for any ideas.
Ryan
Follow Ups:
I've now had the chance to try them. Relative to the smaller OPT that came with the Maplin kit, these Calrads sound great: Open mids and good highs. By comparison the smaller OPTs sounded very shut-in. Bass control seems similar on the two OPTs.Ciao

Calrad transformers should be good. If you need another recommendation, try Sowter...I have them for my GEC 30 watt circuit using KT88 in ultralinear mode; they're terrific.
Thanks, I appreciate the info.

Sorry, Ryan....I didn't really give much information. I have no experience of the Calrad transformers...but someone else probably can advise on them. I only mentioned Sowter transformers because they are, to me, a known quantity, and I can thoroughly recommend them. There are many others, of course. I guess it depends, to some extent, on availability.
