In Reply to: Re: I just bought a pair of Atma-Sphere M60 MKII Amps - What speakers? posted by adrianwu on April 02, 2001 at 22:25:47:
I actually didn't audition them with anything as I bought them used. I did however hear their big brother's at Jena Labs over the weekend and was suitably impressed to take the plunge. Jennifer Crock HIGHLY recommended them and stated that they would work very well with any speaker that was ideally 6ohm or more and with a constant impedance curve.I am actually very seriously considering the Proac Response 1SC's. The amps are 60W/channel, so I am not concerned about efficiency.

Dan: While visiting JWWC, did you see or hear any Atma-sphere amps that were modified according to her preferences? She has suggested several interesting variations on the stock circuit.
She has one that is complete now and she showed me some of the mods she was doing, but she would be the best person to ask about them specifically. Thanks,
Dan W.
> > I am actually very seriously considering the Proac Response 1SC's.Consider the nOrh 9s instead. I know a guy who's been through quite a few mini monitors with his M60s, including the 1SCs, and he states without a doubt the 9s totally embaress the 1SCs. I believe him. I've heard his system in its current state. I also own the M60s (going on 3 years now... that is a record for me and amps) and the 9s and have owned a couple of other speakers before settling with the 9s. There are a lot of other speakers that you could add to the list as well, over the 1SCs. Merlin, Reference 3A, Coincident...
Thanks, budget is part of the issue, although a used pair of Merlins would also fit the bill. I have an opportunity to demo a pair of Greybeards, courtesy of Jennifer Crock, and may purchase them. I am somewhat limited in what I can audition here.I currently own a pair of nOrh 6.5's, so I know how good the nOrh's are. I might actually look into the marble 9's.
Thanks,
Dan W.
