Why would you do that? Groove Tubes does not make tubes, they just put their logo on current production tubes and double the price. Seems pretty silly to me. Am I missing something?

A quick look at their web site shows quite a few of their tubes, the majority, are of Russian or Chinese origin. They are *mostly* a relabeler.

"Groove Tubes does not make tubes" this a statement from the post I responded to. It is basically not true. The same as you have never actually sat down in a multi-track recording studio and recorded a pop band.

Ya' know I used to think a lot of you but now I see that you are a joke.
Agreed, they do not manufacture, only relable. But they do have a good quality control program. I have never had a new GT flame out or be microphonic. They warranty against such defects should they occur. Their matching is very precise on power tubes, also.

Wow,Pretty insightful from someone who professed to being new to tubes only back in February.
Would you care to share who's tubes they re-label?
Regards,
"M"
It's not at all insightful, it's simple fact - very sorry to have offended by sharing this information. I am not exactly new to tubes, but recently returned to them. The information I have received on AA has been most helpful, it's always good to learn from other's experience and even opinions.Just a quick Google led me here, please take a look sir......

It seems that GT does weed out potential bad or less than the best tubes, so perhaps the premium price is worth it to insure getting higher quality than a random purchase without the quality control.

Looking at the links in morinix' post above you can see that they are directly manufacturing at least one tube and actively overseeing the custom production of 4 or more custom reproductions OOP classic tubes of the past.Check out this thread that starts out as a discussion of GT's "Mullard" reissue 12ax7 which they developed for production through reverse engineering (!). It starts as a nice discussion and then quickly gets led astray by attacks and defense of GT
http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/t.mpl?f=tubes&m=154536I'm really put off by generalized negative statements Groove Tubes when it is clear they are trying to develop a business supplying NOS quality tubes at way cheaper prices. I find it really odd that The Tube Store would make no distinctions about the origin of various GT tubes. Their lack of sophistication in this matter makes me distrustful of them as a retailer! Especially when their site makes clear that they themselves are going to charge higher prices for selecting the good tubes out of their inconsistant stock. Pot calling the kettle black here.
And no, I haven't listened to any. Perhaps they all sound like @%#$#. I want to try their 12ax7 mullard reissues though, along with various other new production brands. My efforts to sub in new production for my 7189 power tubes though was VERY disappointing.

No offense taken,Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Regards,
I agree. There are a few companies that relable tubes using more of a "top shelf" picks. Valve Art is a good example but there are quite a few more.
I have played with the Groove Tubes yet but wonder if they are superior to Valve Arts? Not being smart, rather curious.
