Hi,I am looking to replace Sylvania 5751 (GB) from JD-100 and just wondering is there anything that's better for high frequencies, which will give me more airier treble than 5751 ? May be Mullard CV4004 or Brimar or Mazada ?
Other quipments are
Odyssey Tempest pre-amp
Odyssey Stratos power amp

I'm using Tungsram 12AX7's in my Jolida 100 and am really enjoying the sound. I use Mazda 12ax7's (chrome) in my old cj pv10, and they are my faves in that pre. (I've had Tele., Amperex, Mullard, Philips, GE, Sylvania, and the old pre-war Yugos). I'm sure the choice of tube for the Jolida cdp will depend to a degree on synergy with your other equipment, but I don't think you'd go wrong with Tungsram. Liquid and rich without obscuring detail, and absolutely no digital harshness. You might get a bit more energy in the highs with Mazdas, but I don't find anything lacking with the Tungs. Got my Mazdas and Tungrams (both in his primo level version) from Kevin Deal at Upscale audio.

I, too, was somewhat disappointed with the performance of 5751 tubes in my Jolida 100A. I was using GE triple mica blackplates. Seemed (to me) to be lacking in detail and fullness in the upper mid range and above. I next tried JJECC83's. These gave a lot more detail and extended upper end, but were somewhat harsh and strident. (I like to use violin music as a gage for both detail and harshness.)The tubes I have found to be the most satisfying and exciting to listen to in the Jolida are 6681's, RCA (old logo type) or Amperex. They provide strong solid bass, rich and very detailed mid and upper frequencies. With violin music I would characterize it as crisp and sweet, no stridency or harshness.
Besides the switch to 6681's, the other change that has made a significant improvement in the purity and detail of the music was putting some rope caulk around the oscillator crystal located next to the DAC chip module. This apparently reduces the amount of "jitter" in the clock crystal. One day a after I had done this my wife walked by while I was playing some music, and she said: "What have you done to your outfit to make it sound so good?"
I'm using cryoed JAN Phillips 12AX7WA's in my JD 100 and like them for their airy, spacious sound. Disclaimer...I haven't tried any 5751's for comparison. They were purchased from Ken Chait.

The tungsram is a very nice tube in the 603. Although the 100 and 603 are different animals the Tungsram gets alot of kudos for being a nice, full bandwidth tube without harshness, treble grain and/or overly bright character associated with alot of tubes that offer a nice top end.

Laudanum,Yellow labeled, "flying T" logo Tungsrams rule. Nice quiet passages and strong dynamic transients. Clean highs. And long life.
