Has anyone done this new old kit? It seems like a really neat idea. I had been toying with the idea of getting a Dynaco and restoring it myself but came across this. Any knowledge or opinions?Paul

I think my preference right now would be to buy an old one, spruce it up to listenable levels, and then mod it over time. But they do look very tempting.
I think for someone wanting an original stock unit that can be shown it is a good choice. But, since I'd changeout the tube sockets, power transformer from the Dyna and the inputs it is not my cup of tea, though.

I've been eyeing this kit on eBay as well for the same price. I rebuilt a Dynaco ST70 not long ago and wish I'd have field stipped the unit and gotten it rechromed. Many is the day I'd like to disassemble the ST70 and do exactly what this guy has done with the kit.Personally, I'll probably wait until such time as I can find a beater ST70 with good iron and do just what this guy is doing. However, that being said I bet the amount of time and money I invest will come to right around $795.
If you want a mint ST70 without the hassle of a full restoration, this is certainly an option, albeit a slightly expensive option.
Paul,
Another Asylum Member sells kits for the ST70 and the ST35. I can't recall who, but I will give you a link to his site. He sells his kit for 660 with all the parts. You can buy all the parts separately from him as well.~Bunt
