I was digging through my tube caddy and found these. Are they relabeled GE or RCA? Do they sound decent? Thanks
Follow Ups:
I have a large stash of Raytheon USN 7308 and 6922, made in the US. With the exception of steel pins vs gold pins, they look in every respect to have been produced on Philips tooling. Right down the scalloped splash shield vs. the flat shield of the Sylvania. As I understand it, only Philips and Sylvania actually produced these tubes, i.e. 6DJ8, 6922, 7308 here in the US. So if these are US made, must they not be either a Philips or Sylvania origin? Based on internal construction, I would conclude Philips.
At any rate, the Raytheon 7308 sound every bit as good to my ears as the Amperex USN 7308. In fact, I would say virtually identical. The Raytheon 6922 sound awfully similiar to some of the Amperex USN 6922 that I have.
I think these are a Philips produced tube, relabeled Raytheon. But I see no etch codes of any kind on the tube. Any other info would be great. Joe's Tube Lore pans these tubes. I think he is wrong. They are hidden gems that go for virtually nothing compared to other pricey NOS tubes.
Mr. 6V6GT,
I have a 5-pack of Raytheon USN 6922 sitting here.
1962 with a "D" getter and black plates. Red printing and the 280 code. I don't believe they are relabled.
Haven't plugged them in yet so no opinion on how they perform.
Anyone have another variation?
Mine are gray plates with halo getters-
I've got a pair of 6DJ8's branded Westinghouse that look a lot like these. Not sure who made them ... maybe Sylvania. Anyway the ones I have sound like crap. Better than Sovtek but not much.
It never occurred to me to compare my mystery Westinghouse 6DJ8's to some Philips JAN 6922's I also have. Probably because the Philips were in my "trash" box. Well, it's official ... the Westinghouse DJ8's are absolutely identical to the Philips. Err go the Westinghouse tubes will now reside in the trash box where, come to think of it, I should have put them from the get-go. Also, after comparing the "Westinghouse" more closely to the Raytheons pictured, they are clearly not as similar as I'd originally thought.

I have some Westinghouse labeled 6922's that are actually EI 6DJ8/ECC88's. Not bad tubes really but they are spares as I've stocked up on a few Bugle Boy's inexpensively that I really like and also a couple nice Amperex USN's (gold pins) that are serving duty in a Dynaco CD player.

Looks more like relabeled phillips. Any etched codes near the bottom?
I looked under my stereo microscope and saw none. I have some JAN Phillips and they have a round plate below the getter- these have a similar round plate, but it's stamped and has two raised "petals" 180 degrees apart.Further examination of other tubes shows that they are identical internally to Amperex Bugle Boy 6DJ8/ECC88 including the raised petals, EXCEPT the halo style getter is perhaps 1/16th of an inch less diameter - the BB is smaller.
they are branded RCA, and have "made in USA" or USA sandblasted into the glass. I believe they are Raytheon. I have not used them as yet. Very odd bird.
