Just a word of advice. If you're going to buy some serious tubage do it through a reputable dealer. I've had dealings with ebay but luckly I was on the selling end-lets say I would NEVER NEVER NEVER buy tubes off of ebay. There are several reputable dealers right here on this asylum-use them if your buying high end stuff.

Hi,I have made several purchases from Ned at Triode who is a great person to do business with, but I have not found NOS EL34s on his site (at least right now). What are some of the other dealers I should try?
Hi LynnDid you rule out a possible problem with the circuit in the amp - voltage too high, or the amp is running too much current through the tubes? Were the plates of the tube(s) glowing orange-hot after a few minutes (the metal plates, not the heater filaments - the heater filaments will glow right away). If you suspect anything like this, send more info about the amp.
Triode Electronics has several EL34's listed - click on the 6CA7 EL34 option.

Hi Dan,I did re-bias after putting in the tubes, and have not had problems with the amp, and and any of the new EL34 brands that I have purchased from Triode.
Unfortunately, Triode does not have any NOS EL34s for sale right now, and that is why I tried eBay. Perhaps it was just bad luck that the first NOS tubes I tried had a problem, and based on Chris's comments the Siemens tubes are not reliable.
Hi Lynn,
You might give Brendan Biever a call at Tube World. He has just about everything you could want. His prices have never been cheap but he tests everything and he has an excellant reputation for standing behind what he sells. Just oneof the sources that I trust.
Regards,
John
