I recently watched the new Robin Trower dvd Living Out of Time, filmed on Robin's 60th birthday in Germany last year. Oh my gracious this man has lost absolutely nothing from his peak years, and I think is playing better than ever, notwithstanding the vocal dropoff with the lamentable passing of James Dewar--perhaps the most underrated rock singer in history. I implore you to check out this DVD. The absolute master of thick Fender sustain.

Follow Ups:
I have been fortunate to see him Live" many times since the 70's. I thought Dewar had a wonderful voice and did help aid in Robin's first few masterpiece LP's.

I second your enthusiasm. There is a good mix of old and new material. Many of the songs feature extended lead breaks. I absolutely ate these up. I like to describe Gary Moore's playing as "firey," while Trower's playing shows fantastic touch and feel.
He knows how to make the most out of various string bends, coupled with killer vibrato and sustain. My only disappointment was that his website hinted that some vintage clips would be available on the proposed DVD. I've previewed some of these on his website, and though of poor video quality, I still would have preferred them on the DVD.
I think we are damn fortunate to have this concert DVD capturing one of the underappreciated masters of the Fender stratocaster. He really knows how to use the wah-wah pedal and rotary speaker effects.
It's very good, but I have a lot of concert bootleg video from the 70s. The older stuff is better. He's a lot more fired up. The DVD is still worth getting if you're a Trower fan or a fan of good guitar. It's good to see Davey back too. He was going through some pretty bad singers for a while there.

Amazing guitar playing on that DVD---he can still rip it up...

One of,if not my favorite(After Humble Pie's SMOKIN' of course), album of all time is Bridge of Sighs. Great performances by the whole band. A true classic. I can't wait to see the DVD. Dewar's death was a great loss. I couldn't agree more. A fantastic singer. Soulful, rich and moving.
