Bush's father campaigned against the failed policies of Mondale and McGovern, neither of whom were even elected president. Got him the White House.
So, you believe it's OK for GOP candidates to run against Democrats who were never even elected to the White House, but not OK for Democrats to run against GOP presidents who are miserable failures...

What did you think that was all about, changing the color scheme in the West Wing? Even after the Bush people took over, they persisted with stories like the phony vandalism that took place in the last days of the Clinton regime.
It's common political practice--when you're in the party that's been out of power, and there's no sitting president to run against you don't run against your opponent. You run against the outgoing prez.
The Democrats will run against Bush in '08. Whoever the GOP nominee is, any Bush failure is going to be hung around his neck. That's the way it's done.
