  Atma-Sphere recommends burning in the new output tubes with just the heater circuit (stand-by) for 24-48 hours before applying full power to the tubes. Doing this is reported to improve the life of the tubes. Another recommendation is to back down on the bias initially when you do move to power the amp up, then gradually ramp everything up to the correct AC balance and bias. With a new set of tubes, check your AC balance and bias at least once a week until you find it is stable.
