I am trying to find an Etta James CD for my sister she alrady has her self named album, do you now of any others?
Follow Ups:
You've really struck a nerve here. Two more recent picks would have to include Matriarch of the Blues (I think on EMI) and The Right Time on Island. Only on cd's,no vinyl available anywhere. Of the Chess years ( her best of the early years) it's hard to find original vinyl in any reasonable shape. If you can find it there was a two-fer which had a blue cover and was an excellent overview of her career. Her best song to me was Good Rockin Daddy on Modern. I have it on 78rpm. It's available on cd but I forgot the label. She's an artist that I buy blindly as most are good, some are great, but none disapoint.
Two fer yer listen pleasure............(I like Etta live!).
I would suggest you get "Etta Rocks the House" early stuff (1964) and get "Live in San Francisco" (1994).....both knocks out and you can hear the difference/change in her voice over the 30 years (yes, Imo, it got better!).
You can score her box set......but I think the two above are so hot even is they don't have all of her biggies on them.
Etta.....what a babe!
music has the power to make you happy

My wife just got a greatest hits CD for herself. Reissue of stuff from the 60's, I think. "At Last", a great song, sounded a bit edgy, even with the digital antidote.Old Etta is quite a wailer.
"At Last" sounded a bit edgy on vinyl, but it is a great song.
Thanks for the comment. I'm always wondering about the equipment. One of the reasons I reside at this asylum, I guess.
Yes indeed, a great song. Couple other versions come to mind: Lou Rawls on Blue Note around 1990 & Joni Mitchell's recent disc. Great stuff.
