I think it was your reviews very soon after the SCD-1 was introduced, as well as the write-up in Positive Feedback, that made me take a closer look.

Thank you.I will never forget the unabated firestorm that accompanied my initial comments (18,000 words) in January 2000 on SACD and the SCD-1 that I posted at rec.audio.high-end subsequently at audioreview.com. (see link below)
The anti-SACD objectivist zealots (none of whom had even heard SACD but who argued that CD was as good as humans could possibly resolve)came out firing with both barrels blasting with a furious lambasting that lasted for weeks. I literally had to hang on for dear life. I have never had to write (Internet posts) so much from a defensive posture as I did in early 2000. But hang on I did and actually posted a 18,000 word follow up reaffirming my impressions of the SCD-1 in April of 2000 that can also be found at audioreview.com.
Those were the good old days.

Reading those old posts was a blast from the past. Rich even posted a review there.I always find it interesting that some people have a need to attack what they have not heard. I thought the best one was when Anthony Michaelson dissed SACD in Sam Tellig's column, then came out with his own model six months later.
While we are talking about getting attacked, I remember when Jazz went over to the Blue Note forum to urge them to publish SACDs. You'd have thought he joined the Taliban.

...somebody had the temerity to ask a question of the pro's there regarding the Korg M-1000 DSD(x2) recorder, and serveral of the most noisy objectivists on usenet jumped in to demean not only SACD, but DSD in general.
