My wife and I will be in Italy & Greece for a couple weeks this summer. Is there a way to get pre-paid cellphones that will allow us to communicate locally with each other and call home to the USA a few times?
I don't want to switch to a GSM based service here as my company pays for my non-GSM cellphone. I just need something temporary and reliable for our two week trip.
Thanks!

I'll check out the resources you came up with. Thanks for the help.
www.eurotrip.com forum or the Lonely Planet forum. These questions come up all the time.Calling home can be easily covered by a calling card you by in every EU country for about $20/300-400 minutes at any grocery kiosk. Some work in several countries; most do not.
I don't know about the cell phone thing. Cell phones and TVs are not my cup of tea.
Have fun. We're going to Umbria and the Abruzzo for two weeks in May. Maybe Skopelos island in Greece in September. RMAF in October! I hope.
.... Have a squizz here Abe.Good luck & have fun abroad.
Smile
