I can't figure out how to set up my home stereo. It's made by Marantz but since all five pieces were made in 1989, they don't have records or instruction booklets of the items I own. Apparently they don't keep records from before 1990.There are about 25-35 cords in back, the red, yellow, white, and black ones. I have the wires all labelled as to which boxes each hooks up to, but as to which jack each wire is connected to, I am clueless.
The five pieces of this stereo apparently did not sell as a package either. (I'm not sure of any of this since I bought it from my now-deceased brother-in-law).
If anybody thinks they might be able to help instruct me, or give some advice of where I could look for better help, I'd really appreciate it. I can provide a lot more detail upon request. Thank you.
(My email is www.fbi.gov@gmail.com if that's easier to contact me).

Trying to get advice on this through a thread is a waste of your
time.
Your best bet is find someone that can come to your home and
do it or bring it to someone that knows and have them connect
it for you...
Label everything with numbers...
Pull the rats nest of wires all off everything and wrap up
all the cords neatly and start freshMabye someone on this thread lives by you and can come over and
help you for a few beers etc
......Did you murder your BIL for this priceless (worthless) equipment?Smile
Google can be your friend - just search for manuals by model number
What are the five pieces - tuner, amp, preamp, what?Basically, you start out by connecting the output of the source components to the corresponding inputs on your preamp or integrated amp.
For instance, connect the left channel output of the tuner to the left channel tuner input on the preamp (or integrated amp). Next connect the right channel tuner output to right channel tuner input. Then on to the next source component. The different colored wires are to help you avoid crossing them.
If you have a separate preamp and power amp(s), you will also need to connect the preamp's outputs to the power amp(s) inputs.
If you have a turntable, it can only be connected to the "phono input" on preamp or integrated amp. All of the other sources - tuner, CD player, tape deck - can safely be connected to any of the other inputs, including "Aux". Despite their different labelling, all except "phono" are interchangeable.
If you have a tape deck, you can hook up a set of interconnects from "tape out" on your preamp or integrated amp to a set of inputs on the back of your tape deck. This will enable you to record from one of your other sources, if you want to.
Hope this helps some.
I know your equipment is another brand, but it will not likely matter.
