Does anyone have any experience with the Vandersteen VLR-1 speaker? They would be mounted flush to the wall and about nine feet apart at seated ear level, supplemented with a single central subwoofer, and used with a VCC-1 center channel speaker. As far as I can tell, there are no published reviews of the VLR-1. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Follow Ups:
The VLR is basically the VCC-1 without the proximity switch. It uses the same coaxial driver as the VSM-1 speaker. The VLR sounds good, lacks some detail and a lot of bass compared to its more expensive bigger brothers. The VLR is a shelf-mount speaker, not a wall-mount speaker. It has a T-nut in its base for attaching to a shelf. If you want to flush-mount on a wall, you should use the VSM-1.

Is there any difference between the VCC-1 and the VLR-1? As far as I can tell from Vandersteen's website, they're pretty much identical speakers. It's quite possible that Vandersteen relabeled the VCC-1 to make it easier to sell as a LR speaker for custom designs (in-cabinet, etc.).If they're not 100% identical, they are VERY similar. You would have the distinct advantage of having 3 identical speakers across the front, which is the ideal.

I've not heard this for myself so cannot offer an opinion other than to say I've heard of it being done. Did you contact Vandersteen to see if they know of any reviews? Or you might try Richard Hardesty at Audio Perfectionist, http://www.audioperfectionist.com/.Finding a speaker actually designed to mount on the wall could easily outperform most "standard" bookshelf models.
