At age 50, I ride very conservatively. You have to drive as though you are invisible. Everyone is going to pull out in your lane. Everyone is going to run the red light so look both ways. I high sided once at low speed on gravel and now have a healthy respect for it. While my state does not require lids, I wear a full face everywhere except tooling around the block. I have a scratched helmet and leathers to prove my case.Fortunately, I now live on the outskirts of a small college town so I don't have to go far to get away from traffic. The traffic in Atlanta where I used to live was horrible.

Your "everyone" philosophy is the only way to approach it.As is wearing a full face helmet. Anyone who chooses to ride without one is an idiot, IMO. I've crashed a motorcycle over 20 times in my life and there is a scratch on a helmet for every one of them. It's pretty simple, the forces involved in just about any motorcycle crash are much more powerful than the muscles in your neck. Because of that fact, the weight of your head is greater than your body's ablity to control it.
With 20 crashes, you might want to call it quits. I think that someone is trying to tell you something......
You go fast on a motorcycle, you will fall down.
