mostly brick and martar to online sites. My amount of yeary purchases ( mostly classical) is just about the same amount as before.. There are several excellent online sites to use for classical stuff so I feel my selection choices sre still quite good. I do miss going to my local stores and browsing the bins , getting staff advice and hearing some new recording being played in the background.

Also sites like Amazon offer free shipping at certain price points, add in "no sales tax" and there is no reason to shop elsewhere.

Yeah, but when my local record shop closed, a lot of folks lost the chance to just wander around in the place and discover stuff. Mail order is fine if you know what you want in advance. I won't miss the big box shops of the world, but I do miss For the Record. Ironically, the Barnes and Noble book stores in our area are picking up some of the slack. The two-story (!) store at the Holyoke (MA) mall is very impressive, for both records and books. So it's not the kind of store but how it's implemented. Can you implement a store?

Actually you can do some "controlled virtual wandering" with some of the online stores (check cdbaby.com for example, not only "virtual wandering" but indie labels from groups you may have never heard of...)However, I do miss the fun of the local shops where, like in "Cheers!", everybody knows your name and you can just spelunk through different titles and genres and have someone say "Hey! You might like this new one that came in..."
*Sigh*, the good ol' days...
