What about the fact that with satellite radio in a car you don't have to look for a new station every 40 - 50 miles on long trips? You can literally drive from Maine to San Diego and listen to the same sat radio channel all the way. Or the fact that sat radio is outside the bowdlerizing and suffocating control of the FCC, which means that people on sat radio can have actual adult conversations about adult topics?

U do have a point about the FCC.I firmly believe that if I am paying for a service, I should be able to listen to whatever I want...even the Playboy channel....uugghh!!
Have U heard that drivel?
Cheers,
I made a 600 mile round trip through 3 states last weekend and was able to enjoy the same Sirius channels uninterrupted through the whole trip. I can't imagine why you wouldn't think that was worth having. Terrestrial radio largely sucks in the US unless you like one of the small group of formats pushed by the huge radio conglomerates that own hundreds of US stations, and even the rare stations that are worth listening to don't reach much beyond 50 miles. Sat radio's border to border reach is of no value?
"Sat radio's border to border reach is of no value?"Ease down there and don't take it so personal Rob......and yes I'll cede to U that coast to coast reception is a major attribute BUT I could not listen to Satellite radio for more than 45 minutes due to the reasons listed in my OP.
Personally, I rarely listen to radio anyway on either medium. When I'm mobile, I prefer to hear ~280 supercharged ponies ready at the press of a pedal :-)
Cheers and happy listening,
