Thanks Garth. I appreciate your input. I was thinking the same thing; keep the single run the longest.

Hi P. Hanley,A "Y cable" does not involve a single run of cable. It involves two runs of cable joined to a single connector at either the source or load end. A single run of cable would imply a mono cable, no matter how one slices it :-)
Sorry if I seem obtuse (maybe I'm too dense to understand what you are meaning) :-D
Thanks, I just made it too complex. From the 3.5mm you have three conductors: Left, Right, and Ground. Eventually, the left and the right go their own happy ways, and the ground is shared by adding a ground wire to each of the left and right cables, and conencting that to the single ground. It is the three conductor "leg" that i was considering the "single" run portion of the cable. However, I am a bit surprised at the marital conflict I caused between you two! ;)
If anything, I get my post count up a few as I continue to make this more complicated than it is. LOL. I love this place! :)

Sorry, but not true. From the 3.5mm stereo mini-plug you have four conductors: left channel signal and return, and right channel signal and return. Not "eventually" do the left and right channels go their own happy ways, they must always remain separate from source to load. This is the nature of an analog stereo signal (always individuated). In cases other than headphone cables (and perhaps some other analog cable applications I'm not aware of), the two returns also remain separate from source to load.

Thanks Duster. I found some 75Ohm thin coax that I thhink I'll use for this. I'll do tweo runs as you suggested. Unfortunately, the stuff I have is silver plated copper, and not bare copper, but it should do I for a while. Here are the specs, it's the 735A series stuff.http://www.generalcable.com/NR/rdonlyres/4D96D9E2-0CB7-422C-AF21-97FEF40724FC/0/CompleteDatacomCataogPDF3_06.pdf
