I'm beginning to see the 1.5 meter preference over the 1 meter of the same cable as fairly universal with traditional digital cables. Yes, it is about reflections, but as you can read in UHF Magazine's latest issue, they had been skeptical until they tried it themselves with two different grades of Atlas cables.

I will concur with your POV in that.; a safe bet would be to select a 1.5 meter length regardless of the make/model. If 1 meter has a better reputation than 0.5 meter, 1.5 meter would likely do no harm, at least :-)

I agree that 1.5m sounds better based on personal experiments. You get more open, relax sound. Currently I'm using glass toslink (one purchased from ebay, actually is better then WireWorld SuperNova 5+). It's a great cable for the money but not in the same league as some upper end digital coax cables. I've tried Marigo labs product and they surely outperform glass toslink. BTW Ron (designer)is a strong believer of minimum 1.5m length.
I forgot to include the link. Here is some possible explanation to why the length makes such a big difference.

According to Steve Nugent (empirical audio) it's not just attenuation of reflections with longer cable (even though most designers think that way).
