Go to your local audio shop and see if they will do a double blind test with high-priced interconnects vs. say, a $6 set.
Have one person set up the cables and do the switching and the other do the listening. Do at least 20 cycles of this to help whittle down the 50-50 chance that you start with.
If the sales rep says cables need to "burn in", they are either completely unknowedgable or they are lying.

  The rules of the Cable Asylum prohibit discussion of DBT's. This includes promoting the use of same, for the very reason that your post illustrates: in most cases, DBT's are used to belittle and denigrate Cable Asylum posters and readers, due to the attitude and belief system that promotion of DBT's tend to involve.

  Quick changes to a system don't reveal much, IMO. Listen to a component (in this case a cable) for at least a week & preferably longer, then switch back to the first piece.
  If there are appreciable differences, you'll be able to tell. If not, then by all means stay with the less expensive model.

      State it as you wish. I happen to disagree 100% with EVERYTHING you posted, but as it's a DBT-FREE Zone I cannot go into detail why, nor would either of us ever change the others mind, so what's the use and that's why it's a DBT-FREE Zone!
      DBT's are one of those audio areas where we just have to agree to disagree. In any event Happy New Year and good listening to you.
