are there different sized toslink cables? I wanted to try my Berhinger DEQ2496 with glass until I could get an adaptor and the Guitar-Center "dude" gave me a what looked like a standard toslink cable. Only, it won't connect to the optical out of my Roku Soundbridge (like Squeezebox) or the input on the DEQ2496. It's as if the glass bulbous thing at the tip is a bit too big. Do they make different kinds of Toslink cables? Do I care? I want to get an adaptor from xlr to rca to set the AES/EBU/EMO/EMU-whatever to spdf.

Is the "bulbous" thing a rubber protective cap?

I'll look at it. It's clear, whatever it is. It says toslink on the package, but it's guitar center's house cable and who knows.. it could have wound up in the wrong package.

They are usually packaged with protective caps. The image is without the caps.

Thanks! Yeah I removed the caps. I never used a fiber cable before. I had used coax spdif, but the behringer has xlr digital ins and optical, so I figured optical would be easier out of my Roku Soundbridge instead of dealing with the difference between the 110 ohms the berhinger wants and the 75 ohms the consumer product expects.

You might have been given a ADAT optical cable, which is different than a Toslink.
