Dunno, but...

The output of my Shure M97xE jumped when I replaced the stock stylus with the Jico SAS. I doubt it doubled, but it was a noticeable jump.

Jico has this to say about the SAS: "Rare earth metals with excellent electromagnetic conductivity compose the magnet for the stylus." So, if I had to guess I'd say Jico is using a more powerful magnet (probably neodymium) than the stock stylus assembly, which results in a greater signal output.
