Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I always thought I would do something with the speakers, but time is

whizzing by me at almost 76 years old. All the vintage stuff never cost more than $30 at thrifts and garage sales from the 90s and early 2000s. Folks were dumping 60s and 70s speakers back then as well as records. Most of the vintage stuff no longer appears anywhere I frequent, and that's fortunate. I did manage to walk away from another rare ADS L710 about a year ago, so maybe I'm cured.

I am currently using thrift store Hitachi HS 500 speakers, and I will be rotating the larger speakers after my final move. My Alaska location can only use bookshelf speakers along with 2 HSU subs, and that's why so many bookshelf speakers on my list. My new location can use any size.
