I can't speak for his personal gear. I am unaware of any $1 cables these days. But essentially audible transparency for amps, cables and DACs have been achieved. With amps it isn't quite as simple though because it's only true so long as the amp is opperating within it's power capacities. And that is not always as simple and straight forward as it seems it should be.
