That post that you had removed was on topic and humorous and unless you are a little sensitive about your sexuality there was no reason for you to have it removed. You can dish it it seems but you can't take it. I intend to ask audioreview to put back up with the portions that offend you removed, is that satisfactory to you? What I keep saying has nothing really to do with the ELAD per se, substitute any other ss preamp that you think sounds bad compared to tubes and my argument is just the same and just as vociferous. My point and the funny thing is that you are unwilling to be tested even on your own equipment in your favorite stereo store or listening room under conditions of your own design and music of your choice. Simply tested on statments you apparently have no hesitation making over and over but yet refuse to be put to the test. If you are afraid of me, then I will attend by phone only and have a local attorney in LA stand in for me. I will of course allow you to object to the substitute counsel in you are somehow afraid of he or she too and do so until we can find a representative for me that you approve. I would still like to have the trials videotaped.
Best, who said best, I may have said it is the best deal for the money, what would you say if a product sounded as good to you as a couple of other well respected preamps that cost you 3 to 6 times as much.
But, once more, what I keep trying to get across to you is that in a series of dbt or abx trials I don't believe that you will be able to consistently pick out your beloved arc vs your cherished Space tech. Nor will you be able to distinquish between the elad and a hundred other solid state preamps that you or I might bring to the challenge. I would also bet that on most material at most listening levels you won't consistently be able to distinquish tube from solid state except in some trials with tube preamps in whick the distortion and noise is so bad that one can hear it and pick up on the rolled off highs and muddled mids and missing lows, thus distinguishing the two.
And wasn't it you that said in one paragraph of the Morrison thread that "STATS don't mean anything...."then I confront you with this statement and then just one post later you say "I never said specs weren't important...." Talk about the pot calling the kettle black...WOW.
If you will email me I will send you proof that I am an attorney and a toll free ph # so we can arrange La challenge.
And you can be sure I and other objectivists will keep posting at audiogon for your and other's pleasure and each time some subjectivist like you says something absurd I will be there going prove it, prove it, prove it! My guess is you will never accept the challenge, but I really hope you will. If you are able to tell preamps apart, I will shut up forever. Attractive offer, yes.
I don't care if your tube crusade is successful and you convert (or revert)the whole community to tubes and all ss dealers never sell another unit, I would just love to have a subjectivist or golden ear to submit to some listening trials and have them prove that they can pick out x vs y without seeing which is playing.
Cordially...
