Discuss a review. Provide constructive feedback. Talk to the industry.

Frankly, the high-end sector is failing in many ways...

...as we could use some organizations that could pool funds/strengths to help in marketing our industry. From what i can tell, it seems that the efforts to start an organization called the A5 (see October 10 news article at http://www.enjoythemusic.com/news/ ) is a very good start. The AAHPAV (Academy Advancing High End Audio & Video) that came and went had a basic good idea, but then it appeared to some to be more a 'Gentlemen's Club' of self-serving back patting. Sad, truly sad as they had some momentum... then floundered.

Basically, we need a way to reach the public about the benefits of enhancing the joys of music reproduction through high-end audio products. As you have noted, the video guys have the funds to educate the public and sell video at quite good dollar values. Why is it they spend $5,000 on video yet only $2,000 on audio (if we are lucky!). So why is there not a high-end audio equivalent reaching consumers about better audio products?

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Frankly, i would like to hear from other audiophile reviewers as it appears some of them have chimed in privately against the idea of the A5. If they are against the idea, then they should say here and now why and what they feel is a better venue/idea/move.

ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS:
As for the recent $70,000 Equipment Contest on Enjoy the Music.com, have been in touch with various mainstream media in hopes they assist in promoting it. At the high dollar value, divided by many individual products, will get the attention of Joe and Jane Music Lover. Fortunately they need to be members of the Enjoy the Music.com Mailing List as as such that provides an opportunity to gracefully pique the interests of consumers. Not with a hard sell, but with gentle reminders and reviews/articles filled with knowledge. Naturally they may see the contest and, perhaps, learn about our industry plus read various articles when they decide to surf our Web site... a seed of knowledge could grow if given a chance.

Am open to other ideas from both reviewers and consumers alike. What do you suggest we do to promote the joys of music through high-end audio to the mainstream? How shall it be financed? How would the finances best be distributed?

FYI: there are other marketing ideas i am planning yet am not at liberty to discuss such things at this time.

Reflect it in their art
They forge their creativity

Each must know his part
To sow a new mentality

I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
