Since you asked...

The "Sonic Impact T amp" (aka "The plastic joke) is a very "cheap and cheerful" implementation of a low power (about 7w into 8 Ohms!) amp apparently originally produced for beachcombers, etc. who wanted easily portable music (these amps run off a 12VDC supply)...

Someone, however, apparently decided to connect the amp up to "domestic" hi-fi components, was very surprised at the results, and mentioned this to friends... Since the purchase-price was so low, more folk took the gamble to find out for themselves, and the word spread...

Reviewers from 6moons and TNTAudio decided that they would have to see what any fuss was about, and both reported surprisingly good results that represented astonishing value, when paired with suitable good quality equipment...

There are obvious economies that have been made in producing an amplifier for the initial $30 purchase-price, and - especially for those who have basic adequate soldering skills - markedly improved results can be delivered by replacing the input capacitors, input and speaker connectors, power capacitors, and inductors for less "industrial" choices...

If you have 6 months to spare, enter diyaudio.com, select "Class D" forum, and in the Search box type "T amp"... There's LOTS of comment about various options for improvement, but recommend reading up on "The Stealth Mod" as probably the best cost-effective mod...

Sorry about that, but you did ask!...

Bill.
