You poor, poor thing. The flu isn't fun. So sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather down under. I battled it several times this past season. This represents a pattern not experienced in recent years. Hope this is once and out for you.A little tip for the raw skin on the snoot: use vaseline. It protects much better against the rubbing of the tissues, which are, after all, just glorified wood. And, most importantly, it doesn't sting! Almost all lotions use some sort of alcohol to make them evaporate quicker. But that really stings when the red nose strikes. If you're going to have a red nose, it's more fun to get one from bourbon than influenza.
As to fires, so far nothing worse than usual in Southern California that I'm aware of, and I don't think Northern Cal has had anything out of the ordinary. Arizona and New Mexico, however, have had dreadful fires. On my trip back to the mater and pater's a few weeks ago, I didn't see any clear skies. It looked like L.A. smog all the way, primarily due to the terrible fires. It was really bad in Arizona. I took the northern route and the worst fires were in the south, but smoke remnants had carried hundreds and hundreds of miles north.
Get well quickly, Timbo.
