Assume the reference is the Dynaco Stereo 35? If so, I tried different coupling caps & other components including tubes, minor mods to the design including the power supply, bias, etc to this amp.To much haze in the Dynaco Stereo 35 for me. It covers up small details, etc. The Grommes 24PG is far superior in this regard providing a large 3-D soundstage with lots of air in-between instruments.
The Grommes is highly modified, so other readers I suggest you do not run out and buy one unless you are capable of modifying the amp. It was quite ordinary sounding when stock, but the right combination of tubes had a large part in the higher performance.
