And this is Gillespie's EFB, as currently implemented in my Dynaco SCA-35.
TI says, "When CL is larger than 20µF (which it currently is, in my SCA-35) D1 protects..." So it seems a diode across V In to V Out would be in order.
But since the EFB's 4.7µF cap is under TI's "C2 larger than 10µF", could that diode be omitted? I'm not trying to nit-pick the cost of a diode, but space is at a premium where the 337 is mounted.
As to your question of why DAK gave up on the EFB so quickly, I've wondered that too. I just checked Mouser, and a TI LM337 is $0.85
