Here's my guess...

CDs have a brickwall filter at 20 kHz. The steeper the filter, the more ringing and time smear it has. It is probably this ringing and time smear that fatigues you. Since the ringing occurs at the cutoff frequency of the filter, it is largely removed by the low-pass filters used in FM transmission and reception.
