I think that the point here is that the F5 brings in more detail, harmonic development, and dynamics that are similar to what an SET can do. The F3 is a single ended design as I recall, and it has some SET flavor to it. It is a softer sounding amp that the F5, and some prefer that.
Like everything in audio, your taste may differ.
