It seem to work pretty good with hi-mu power triode like 805. I built one with 810 tube. The topology is simple. Getting a good quality of small output transformer. Mine was 2k:16ohm 7W. Using it in reverse, you get 1:11 step up trans which can drive hi-mu tube with power (A2 drive). Then terminate the 2K side with 1.5-2K resistor and connect with hi-mu tube like 805 or 810. You may need to find the optimum bias point by yourself. With 1.8Wrms output at 16 ohm, you get 5.36 Vrms. It's 15 Vpp. With 1:11 step up, you'll get 165 Vpp.810 need 120 Vpp with 1000V, 150mA DC bias to get 55W output from a single tube.
