Single Ended Triodes (SETs), the ultimate tube lovers dream.

Agree with Jack

A preference for 300B's or 2A3's IS a matter of taste, but I am interested in what it is about the two tubes that causes us to lean one way or the other.

In my meager experience so far, I have found the 300B warmer, fuller, meatier, more sensuous but a bit too soft overall to get it right. It pleases rather than thrills. The 2A3 strikes me as better able to get at detail and nuance, and it is also more thrilling when it goes after individual instruments. And has a clearer, firmer bottom end. The 2A3 is more yinny, the 300B more yangy.

Am I close to the general consensus here or somewhere in the outfield?
