MFC, I recommend that you bias the driver device for a darlington pair with perhaps 100 ohms between the base-emitter junction of the output device. We usually bias it differently, with what is effectively a current source, but this should do for this example. The reason is that if you starve the driver device, then you will have inferior performance. Actually, we would use a different device for the driver, optimized for about 1/10 the current of the output device. Keep up the good work.
