I'm not sure I understand what the qualification you are talking about. Yes, I have done it both ways with the PSB Stratus Minis, which we still have for the movies, BTW. No, I didn't notice any differences in the sound.My dealer was shocked by the speaker wires when he installed our new speakers and tried very hard to sell me some new wire.
I do want good connections, though, as bad ones can make a difference. They should be clean, and I use gold plated banana plugs, which is perhaps overkill, but they are also very convenient for making and breaking connections.
